How do I join a team game with my friends?

Open the game and tap Join Team, then pick how you want to enter. Two options are offered: Party, which creates a one-off squad for this game, and Permanent team, which brings a team you already have. Only a captain can bring a permanent team into a game, so if your team is listed but you cannot select it, the captain has to register it. Teams that are already in this game are shown as unavailable. After you enter you land on your team page, where you invite the rest of your squad. From the same screen you can also create a new permanent team if you do not have one yet.
