How does a league season end?
A season ends when you finish it, not when its end date arrives. The end date you set when creating the league is only a plan: it drives the league card and sorting, and it no longer decides whether the league counts as live.
As the organizer you have three actions on the league:
-
Finish season: the league leaves Explore and its header shows “Season finished” instead of a date range
-
Reopen season: it goes back to Explore and can host matches again
-
Extend season by 2 weeks: offered only when the planned date has passed while the season is still running
Playbox also closes abandoned seasons on its own. If a league goes three days with nothing happening, no matches played and no fixtures scheduled ahead, the season is finished automatically, and you get a warning a day beforehand with an action to keep it open that pushes the plan two weeks out. A league with fixtures scheduled in the future is never closed this way, so an ongoing season is safe even if there is a gap between matchdays.
