How does a Double Elimination bracket work?
Double Elimination runs two brackets at once, so a team must lose twice before it is out. Teams start in the winners bracket; the first time a team loses, it drops to the losers bracket instead of being eliminated. A team knocked out of the losers bracket (its second loss) is out for good. Both brackets converge in a final between the winners-bracket team and the team that fought back through the losers bracket. This format is available when you set up a tournament, and it gives teams a second chance after one bad result, unlike single elimination where one loss ends your run.
