How do I make a game public or private?

Private only hides a game from Explore, public feeds, the venue page and the city Telegram hub. It does not lock the game: anyone who has the game link can open it, see the lineup and join. Playbox has no members-only, approval or password mode for games.

Set it with “Visibility” in the “Publishing” section of the Checkout step when you create or edit a game: “Public” or “Private”. Despite the hint under Private (“Only invited players can see the game”), people find it through the link you share, and anyone with that link can join.

To keep strangers out of a private game:

Who is notified about a private game: only participants of its community, and only if the community is private. Venue subscribers, your followers and Game Radar are skipped. Telegram chats you ticked in “Where to publish” still get the announcement.

Public games of a new organizer appear in Explore once 5 players join (team game: 1 team), until your first finished game with 10 or more players. See “Why aren’t my games showing in the public Explore feed yet?”.
