How do chats work in Playbox?
What chat types are available?
There are 2 types:
-
Event chat (group chat) for a specific event.
-
Personal chat (1-to-1) between two users.
Where is the event chat?
On the event page at a URL like /event/<id>/chat/.
Where is the personal chat?
On the user profile chat page at a URL like /profile/<username>/chat/.
Who can send messages in an event chat?
By default, event participants can write (players, referees, event creator).
If the creator enables allow_for_all, non-participants can write too.
Why can’t I send messages in an event chat?
Usually one of these reasons:
-
You are not a member and the creator has disabled “allow for all”.
-
You are banned by the organizer/system.
Who can send me personal messages?
By default anyone, not only the game’s players, can write in the chats of games you create. To limit it, open Settings, then “Privacy”, and under “My events” set “Game chat” to “Only participants”. It applies to the games you created.
Under “Personal inbox”, “Users” sets who can message you directly: “Everyone”, “Friends & teammates” or “Nobody”.
These settings control messages only. They do not hide your profile (see “Can I hide my profile or make it private?”) and they do not hide a game: anyone who opens the game link sees the game page and its lineup, even for a private game.
If a stranger writes in your game chat asking for money, do not pay outside Playbox. Report it to support: Telegram @playbox_support, WhatsApp https://wa.me/995511139045 or email contact@play-box.xyz.
Yes, but only your own messages.
Is reply-to-message supported?
Yes. Reply must be in the same chat and point to an earlier existing message.
Are @mentions supported?
Yes, in event chats.
Supported mentions:
-
@username - specific user.
-
@all or @everyone - all chat members, only when sent by the game’s organizer or a manager (from a player it is plain text).
-
@developers - also forwarded to the dev Telegram topic.
How do unread messages work?
The system stores each member’s last read message id and calculates unread count automatically.
Counters update in real time.
What does “Mute” mean?
It disables notifications for that chat: tap the speaker icon in the chat header to mute or unmute.
The chat remains accessible. A whole chat can’t be deleted or cleared; you can delete your own messages one by one.
Are media/files supported in chat?
You can send photos: tap the image button next to the message field and pick up to 5 photos per message (JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC). Tap a photo to open it full screen, where you can save, share or reply to it. Other files, videos and voice messages are not supported.
