Do I need a camera, and is streaming built into Playbox?
A camera is optional. You only need video if you want to verify ranked results by video or show highlights; otherwise players can confirm results themselves and no camera is needed.
The Playbox web app itself does not stream. Playbox gives you the live graphics (scoreboard, timer, goals) and, with a Playbox stream, a stream key, and the broadcast goes to YouTube or Twitch through a streaming app:
-
Playbox Stream, our own iPhone app: it films, adds the scoreboard to the video and goes live (see “How do I connect the Playbox Stream app?”).
-
Or any app with Custom RTMP: Streamlabs, PRISM Live Studio or Larix Broadcaster on a phone, OBS on a computer, with the overlay link added as a layer.
For a basic setup you need a phone (or two: one films, one records the match in Playbox), a tripod and a power bank. See “How to stream matches (Mobile and OBS)?”.
