Can I stream to my own YouTube channel or only to the Playbox channel?
You can stream a Playbox match with a Playbox stream key to two places: the shared Playbox YouTube channel, or your own YouTube channel connected in Settings → Connected Apps → YouTube. When you add a stream (Stream settings → Add stream), the sheet lists your connected channels under Your channels, the game organizer’s channels under “Organizer’s channels” (when you help run someone else’s game) and the Playbox channel last, and you pick one. Both get the same automation: a stream key and RTMP server per stream, title and metadata from the game, the watch link in the lobby and results page, the live overlay, automatic finish, goal timestamps and the auto thumbnail. The Playbox channel needs no YouTube account and no subscribers, but the game needs a minimum number of signed-up players before a stream can be created. On your own channel there is no player minimum, the training game can be streamed, and after the game the video stays exactly as you set it: Playbox does not change its visibility, does not add it to Playbox city playlists and does not delete short or empty broadcasts from your channel.
Why Smart Streaming works
-
Automatic stream key generation per event
-
No personal YouTube account required
-
Automatic titles and metadata from event data
-
Embedded stream links in event lobby and results page
-
Video validation via API
-
Automatic timestamps from game data
Both: you choose the channel when you create the stream in the game. Open the game lobby, “Media” tab, “Video”, and tap “Add stream” (or “Manage”, “Stream settings”, “Add stream”). Pick your channel under “Your channels” or “Playbox channel”, tap “Next”, choose the quality and tap “Create”.
Then tap the stream row (Stream #1), “Copy stream key” and “Copy RTMP server”, and paste both into OBS (Settings, Stream, Service: Custom) or a phone app with Custom RTMP such as Streamlabs, PRISM Live Studio or Larix. Switch to landscape and start streaming.
Both. When you tap “Add stream” in the game, the sheet lists your connected YouTube channels under “Your channels”, the game organizer’s channels under “Organizer’s channels” (if you are a Manager or Results tracker on someone else’s game) and the “Playbox channel” last; you pick one. Your own channel is connected in Settings, “Connected Apps”, YouTube.
The stream must be created in Playbox either way. Don’t link YouTube inside Streamlabs and don’t use YouTube’s own Go Live: a broadcast started that way bypasses Playbox, so the game gets no stream in the lobby and no live scoreboard on the video.
