Why does my profile photo have its background removed?

When you upload a profile photo, Playbox automatically cuts you out from the background so your figure sits cleanly on your player card. From a single upload the app builds four versions of the picture: the original, a large card image, a small card image, and an overlay version used in lineups and broadcast graphics. That is why your photo on the card looks different from the file you uploaded.

Processing and moderation are two separate steps. Processing is done by the app in seconds while you watch: uploading, looking for a face, removing the background, centering, building the card. Moderation is done by a person: every photo, whether you uploaded it or an organizer added it, is reviewed before other players see it.

For the best result, upload a photo where your head and shoulders are clearly visible, you are the only person in the frame, and there is reasonable contrast between you and the background. Group shots, heavy shadows and an object right above your head are the usual reasons a cutout comes out wrong. If the card preview looks off, tap “Edit” and pick another file before sending. If you already sent it, tap “Cancel upload” while it is pending, then upload a new one.
